What happens during pediatric visits?
When your child comes in for a pediatric appointment, a member of the clinical staff will assess their weight, height (head circumference in babies), and growth for monitoring. They will also check your child’s temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
Pediatric Test
Our pediatric care provider will review your child’s personal and family medical history, including lifestyle, medications (if any), behavior, and developmental milestones. They may offer vision and hearing screenings if appropriate for your child’s age.
A physical examination will be performed to check your child’s eyes, ears, throat, breathing, heartbeat, and reflexes. Depending on the reason for your visit, your child may also need a urine test or a nasal or throat swab. If needed, your doctor may likewise order blood tests, asthma or allergy testing, X-rays, or other imaging procedures.
Which pediatric treatments are available?
If your child has an illness, your pediatric specialist may recommend lifestyle changes, at-home treatments, medications, or dietary supplements. If they have a wound or minor burn, the doctor may do stitches or treat the burn.
In some cases, providers can refer your child to specialists for physical, speech, occupational, or other specialty services. Other offers include immunizations, asthma treatments, and prescriptions, if needed. These pediatric treatments are usually personalized to match your child’s specific needs.
